Intermediate Compensation Specialist, Ottawa FILLED
Our client, a national organization with head office in Ottawa, is offering a one-year contract (with a possibility for future full-time position) for a Compensation Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Rewards and Shared Services, the incumbent will be an integral part of the Human Resource team that is re-evaluating the compensation strategy of the entire company. Candidates possess high level of facilitation skills, focus group experience and ability to work with senior executives to gain consensus and communicate their findings to all employee levels.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, design and facilitate numerous focus groups with employees at all levels
- Analyze, document and present the findings of the focus groups and other research initiatives to senior management steering committees
- Support research, analysis, design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of cash compensation policies and programs to ensure compensation programs are successfully delivered and in support of achieving strategic objectives
- Work with other HR teams in cross-functional activities or projects.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements and process efficiencies
- Identify opportunities for enhancements in metrics to improve forecasting & reporting that align with best practices in the industry
- Leverage strong working relationships to build an understanding and acceptance of compensation programs and initiatives across the organization
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- A post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent practical knowledge and experience; working towards, or completion of CCP, CEBS, CHRP or similar designation
- A minimum of 3–5 years focused experience in Human Resources in the banking/financial sector in compensation program design and implementation
- Knowledge and working experience with compensation concepts, design, trends, tools and administration including job evaluation/pay equity committees
- Significant knowledge of statistical analysis and data management techniques with advanced proficiency in working with Office, Excel (Advanced) and other software, specifically Halogen E-compensation module
- Proven ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization in discussions about Rewards and able to influence and enable change
- Demonstrated organization, planning, prioritization and time management skills
- Excellent presentation delivery skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with minimal supervision
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
